Deanna has been baking cakes as a hobby and experimenting with other desserts practically all her life, but only seriously with the thoughts of owning her own business for the last 15 or so years.

She learned to bake from her Mom, she is very talented as well, and she discovered the love of baking from her big sister, Mandy. All of her life, many of the fondest memories she has involved baked goods, from fresh baked pies made with apples and cherries from their own trees, to Texas sheet cakes, lemon bars, cookies, and any other recipe they wanted to try. They have always made Christmas cookies together, and still do to this day. That is what Deanna wants to bring to her customers, sweet memories from Sweet Dreams! Home-made goodness that none of us have the time to make ourselves anymore. I want my customers' guests to feel that their hosts have spent all day baking!

Our wedding cakes are designed by the brides themselves for their special day, usually a one of a kind cake made just for them. Our butter cream frosting is to die for. People go home from a wedding or event and think about the cake and that awesome frosting. We get comments about the frosting all the time. We also bake a mean gourmet cheesecake, made from scratch. I have tested many recipes to find the very best. It happens to be my own, but I tested many. I am also going to try different sweets so people have a great variety. I will be introducing new products as I go, as well as corporate gifts, gift baskets, cookie bouquets, as well as coffee and dessert service, and am open to other new ideas. I can't even guess how many cakes I've done, but get teased that I have more pictures of cakes than I do of my children.

I am always looking for something new, if someone asks me to try something I will, I always look for a challenge.
In addition to wedding cakes, we specialize in sheet cakes, cheesecakes, brownies, cookies, home-made marshmallows, cream puffs, tarts of all kinds, minis of all kinds, and I will also be looking for new ideas and gifts for all occasions. The possibilities are endless. If something works it will stay, if not we will find something else.

I have been married to my husband Phil for 19 years, and I have two wonderful girls, who have helped me be the person I am today. I have 3 sisters, and two brothers, and many neices and nephews. I have lived in Sycamore for most of my life. After High school and two years of college, I moved to Idaho for seven years. There, I met my husband Phil when we both worked at the same restaurant. He would flirt with me by flipping pancakes. I was so excited to marry a Chef, because I did not like to cook, just bake. We had our first daughter and decided we needed to be near family. So we brought our little family back to Sycamore so we could experience the great little town I enjoyed growing up. Soon we had our second daughter, and have been here ever since.
I have done many things in my life from Seven Eleven clerk to moving boxes for 3M. All the while, I've been making cakes and doing weddings as a side-job, because I just love knowing my customers have had the best sweets in town. Anyone who knows me, has heard me talking about opening my own business for at least the last 15 years. I have looked and planned and dreamed, forever. I wanted to be ready for that "opportunity".

In addition to our baked goods, we've uncovered a need for healthy and fresh lunch options in our area. We will be serving soup, salad and sandwiches at lunchtime at our store location. Phil is the Chef who will be making all of the soups or specials we have on the soup, salad, and sandwich bar. Both our salads and sandwich bar will be sold by weight, so you build the sandwich you want, from our fresh ingredients. The soup will be a set price, made fresh daily. Our house bread will also be made fresh and we will introduce other hot specials for lunch beyond sandwiches. We will also have coffee, mini banana, apple and pumpkin loaves, as well as coffee cake for mornings.

We are excited and determined to be successful. We are not afraid of working many hours, to make our customers happy. We enjoy our customers enjoying our products. We are always on the lookout for new ideas, and know people like comfortable and delicious foods.
